Campaign for Real Ale

Pub Updates

The proposed new King's Arms in Egham.

PUB UPDATES

This page is for general news about pubs, beers they sell, changes made, and hopefully mostly good news. See Pubs News for the flip side of the coin, and where help very much needed.

ADDLESTONE

The Queen's Arms in Church Road has been refurbished under new landlady Lisa, with pint from 3.70, beer garden, sports TV and occasional live music. Let's check it out, more reports welcome.

CHERTSEY

Bridge Hotel Chertsey re-opened March 2019

Bridge Hotel Re-opened under it's old name, following purchase and major refurbishment by Young's. Beautiful setting overlooking the river and historic Chertsey bridge, recently featured Young's Special and Bitter, and guest ales St Austell Proper Job (a rarity in these parts) and Hogs Back TEA. Following several incarnations and a period of closure, the Golden Grove near St Annes Hill, a lovely former Coaching Inn and Good Beer Guide entrant has been refurbished whilst retaining it's charm, by new landlord from the Red Lion at Shepperton.

EGHAM

Work has now started to turn the closed Loch Fyne Restaurant in Egham back into a pub. Outisde has been repainted, much internal change including provision of bedrooms, a much repaired roof, and a conservatory at the back.

LALEHAM

The Feathers has re-opened as a community local run by a local family. Three real ales and an extensive menu, and a short walk from the River Thames. Had good reports so far; let's pop down and check it out.

SHEPPERTON

Red Lion now stocks Thames Side White Swan in addition to London Pride. Thames Court on the tow path overlooking river is a Vintage Inn, and therefore offers 20p discount off real ale to CAMRA members.

Anchor Stanwell Moor gets a major refurb July 2019

STAINES

CLOSED - Previous Thames Side Brewery & Tap Room had a great kick off on Staines upon Thames Day (who knew?) and Andy has started brewing; well he had to, he was running out! New brewery tap room now open. See Beers & Brewing for more info.

STANWELL MOOR

The Anchor has changed hands, and good news is that keen new licensee is giving pub a real spruce up. Bad news is that he has discontinued real ale and switched to bottles, as does not think he will have the through put to keep it well, and he may have a point. Maybe he needs lots of people popping in and asking for it??

SUNBURY

The Phoenix on the river in Sunbury no longer has Cask Marque. This could be for a variety of reasons besides cellar management or beer quality. Anyone know any more?
